one legged strength endurance
Nov 17, 2010For the next six weeks or so I am emphasizing building up my strength endurance. Today I was in the weight room working on legs and doing 3 sets of 12-15 for all exercises. I LOVE leg days at the gym.
Since I am working on endurance and using lighter weights, I am doing mostly one legged exercises. There are so many wonderful and creative one legged strength exercises to do. One legged strength is extremely important. The small stabilizing muscles that are trained in one legged strength are the ones that guide your larger muscles as they do their work and give your movements grace and precision.
Today I finished off my workout with 3 sets of one legged squat and touch. I used a 15 lbs dumbbell and tapped it to the ground just outside the foot. This created a bit of a rotational component to the motion as well.
